Chasing Points, Scoring Fits: Matchday Tracksuits

Tactics win matches, but tailored tracksuits win the tunnel.
Here are our favourite WSL tracksuit sets!
Arsenal's EQT collection has sought to revive the 1992 Addidas era, using the trefoil logo and retro Arsenal crest. The tracksuit looks straight out of the 90s with its retro bold colour palette of red, white, and navy. The retro crest is embroided intricately onto the chest and side of the leg, feeding into this idea of nostalgia. The zip-up top and matching trousers are made of windbreaker material, perfect for the transition from summer to autumn. The fit itself also a cropped cut with elasticated cuffs to give the set a more defined shape.

Man United have also revived the EQT era by leaning into adidas' 90's theme. Pairing heavy retro heritage with modern streetwear tailoring, the design features a black, red, and white geometric colourscheme. The jacket is built with a sharp stand-up collar and bold diagonal chevron panelling, matched with wide-leg, relaxed pants that mirror the angular red and white inserts down the outside of the leg.
Another EQT investment was made by Liverpool who took addidas up on this bold retro look. While they could have played it safe with stealthy tones, Liverpool went all in on a bold teal to properly embrace a vibrant look that will instantly command attention. The vibrant teal crew-neck top layered under a zip-up jacket is striking through the contrast of the black base colour. It's bright and eyecatching and the embroided crest blends seamlessly onto the design to give it a nostalgic, yet classy look.
One of my favourites has been Chelsea's SW6 Extension Tracksuit. The exclusive set is sleek black and grey featuring high-contrast neon pink. The pink crest is emblazoned on the front of the tracksuit with the "CFCW" and SW6 back details are a nice touch and a necessary pop of colour. The stand-out feature of this set is its modern and relaxed cut, having both an oversized jacket and ultra-wide pants. This casual design makes it something i'd consider buying. Melvin Malard was also spotted wearing a different variation of the tracksuit, swapping out the round neck t-shirt for a collared shirt with a square neck which provides a baggier fit.

Chelsea have also been caught rocking another two-piece during their UWCL opener. The Nike i96 Repel set is channeling clasic 90's sportswear. The crisp white and royal blue is the perfect balance between club colours and timeless athletic heritage. The retro windbreaker features a bold blue chest chevron, elasticated cuffs, and a full-zipp stand collar. This is paired with royal blue track-bottoms. The colours on both pieces are an inversion of the other. The details on the matching set are topped off with the red outlining down the sides and around the embroidery, offering a vibrant aesthetic.

Manchester City have also been seen dripped out in all black, using sleek monochrome sets to create a simple yet striking look. The All-Black Puma x Asahi set gives the energy that the WSL winner mean business. The hooded, lightweight shell jacket features elasticated cuffs with no colour or stripes, and instead the crest and sponsors are the standout on the fit. The chest and sleeve feature white branding for Official Training Kit Partneer "Asahi Super "Dry"", seamlessly integrating sponsorship into an clean, techwear aesthetic.

London City are here to disrupt both on and off the pitch. Dressed in two shades of blue and crisp white, their Nike set blends their bright club colours with a athletic crop silhouette and wide trousers. The white t-shirt is effective against the bright blue of the set, with the white embroidered "N I K E" and London City logo adding dimension to the shirt, which at first sight would appear plain. However, the star piece is the cropped zip jacket, complete with elasticated hems, high-contrast white shoulder panels, and a bold "LDN CITY" lettering stamped on the back. The club crest itself is even more of a statement piece, using an overlay of the crest three times in white, bright pink, and their club blue. Matched with wide-leg blue bottoms with white side piping, the set feeds into football's rising love for streetwear.

The WSL teams are covering everything, from retro sets to sleek modern streetwear. We can't wait to see what these teams will be stepping out in next!
