Alexia has "broken down barriers, opened paths, and decisively contributed to transforming the history of Spanish women's football" - Marca.

Alexia Putellas is growing the game beyond her own legacy on the pitch, having built her own foundation, "More Than Eleven", to create global opportunities for young girls.

The Eleven Foundation is entering its 3rd season in Mollet (Barcelona) where Alexia grew up, and its 3rd season in Colombia, with both academies fostering around 100 girls each. However, this was just the beginning for Putellas, who decided to open another academy in Mexico City in July 2026 to make football accessible to more girls all over the world. Not only is she supplying the training and experience, but she partnered up with Scotiabank so that she could improve the facilities in the Azcapotzalco neighbourhood. The Mexico facility currently caters for 60 girls, but is continuing to welcome new members through its enrolment and scholarships.

Putellas said that she believes "football can change a girl's life", and emphasises the importance of girls having a "space to play". Usually when female footballers allude to girls having "space" within the sport, they are largely referring to a metaphorical space where they feel heard and taken seriously. Alexia, however, is referring to physical space, highlighting her mission to grant opportunities for girls who don't even have the grass around their homes to play with a football.

The foundation itself provides football training but also emotional education: learning how to build self-esteem, autonomy, and manage pressure, as well as leadership development. Not only are they taught how to master their footballing skills, but are also taught how to build mental stoicism and good personal qualities which will better them not just as sportswomen, but as people.

Her desire to help the next generation has propelled her to open up another part of the project in the Dominican Republic, in Santo Domingo. The opening is scheduled for the 22nd of December and Putellas will be in attendance for it.

Putellas has shared her desire to grow her foundation by reaching as many places as possible, exclaiming that while she's been "lucky to have a supportive family and a stable environment", she knows "that's not the case for everyone".

From selling Eleven merchandise scarfs, (with all profits going to the foundation), to streaming WSL games for free in Spain, (soon hoping to expand to other Latin countries), Putellas is trying to make women's football as accessible and inclusive as possible.
