One More Word WSL: Alex Scotts' new show

With the BBC Women’s Football Show cancelled for the 26/27 WSL season, fans were left wondering where they would get their weekly WSL fix. But, as one door closes, we can always count on Alex Scott to save the day and open another!

Scott has launched her own new show, One More Word WSL, bringing together some familiar faces from across the women’s football community to talk about the results, stories and conversations from the recent match days.

The show had been teased on Instagram through the @onemorewordWSL account, with Scott dropping little spoilers before officially revealing what she had been working on. The first episode featured Scott alongside hosts Fara Williams and Anita Asante, and a panel of content creators from across social media.

Social media has played such a huge part in building the women’s football community, so it’s special seeing people being given the opportunity to have conversations about the game. Scott has been really clear about what she wants the show to be. She said the reason she started it was “to bring the women’s football community together, to give everyone a space and give everyone a voice.”

Fans have already reacted positively, with one saying, “great to have a show/platform with a variety of opinions, from experts & also giving fans a voice. Thank you for setting this show up Alex. I will be a regular watcher,” while another called Scott a “true advocate and trailblazer for our game.” And, I think they’re right, this feels like a great move and a super exciting way to continue the conversation in a new, fun format, that isn’t just another football show talking about the scores from the weekend.
