2025 felt like a win for all women in sport, this wasn’t a year dominated by one storyline, it was a year where excellence showed up everywhere.
And whilst we share that collective joy and celebrate everyone in the game, instead of asking who was best, we’re asking who finished 2025 as the most decorated footballer of the year.
Here’s our top five.
5. Alexia Putellas

After missing the entire Euro 2022 campaign through an ACL injury, this was her year to make her mark on the tournament. Alexia proved exactly why she is declared ‘La Reina’.
Still central to Barcelona’s dominance and Spain’s continued rise, Alexia reminded everyone that class, control and leadership doesn’t disappear with time or injury.
